A narrow trade, done properly
Most carpentry businesses take whatever comes. We've gone the other way and concentrated on the structural end: the framing, the steel, and the openings that need a beam over them.
That focus is why builders call us back. Structural work has a narrow margin for error and a long tail of consequences when it's wrong: a beam bearing on the wrong thing, propping pulled too early, tie-down that isn't continuous. None of it shows on the day. All of it shows later.
The mistakes that cost you are the ones another trade, an architect or the engineer finds after the carpenter has gone. We find them first, so you aren't calling us back and losing days waiting on us. We also don't do our part and disappear: before we leave, the trades following us are set up to start. Framing sits at the front of the program, and everything behind it moves when framing is late. If we do have to come back, we come back quickly.
And we'd rather spend an hour opening up a ceiling to see what a wall is actually carrying than price the job off an assumption and find out halfway through.

Four things we don't compromise on
We work on the structure
Framing, steel and structural openings: the parts of a building everything else depends on. It is a narrower trade than general carpentry and we'd rather be genuinely good at it than passable at everything.
We look before we quote
Structural work goes wrong when someone assumes what's behind the plaster. We open things up and check rather than pricing off a photo and discovering the problem halfway through.
We tell you when it's not worth it
Sometimes the wall you want gone isn't the one that's making the room feel small, and sometimes the job costs more than the result is worth. We'll say so.
We hand over work the next trade can use
Square, plumb, braced and swept. The plasterer shouldn't be fixing our work before starting theirs, and the certifier shouldn't be finding surprises.

A good share of our work comes through builders who need a structural crew that can read engineering, hit a program date and coordinate with the trades either side of them. We're used to slotting into someone else's site.
Homeowners renovating
Usually people opening up a floorplan. We'll walk you through whether the wall is structural, what the beam will mean for your ceiling, and what the approval path looks like, before you commit to anything.
Architects and designers
Early input on what's structurally realistic in an existing building, so the design isn't built around an opening the structure can't give you.
Working across Sydney, from a Dulwich Hill base
We work on Sydney's older housing stock: Federation and interwar homes, a lot of them altered more than once, and a lot of them inside heritage conservation areas that change how a structural job gets approved.
